"We assess not just technical skill, but creative risk-taking, conceptual exploration, and artistic growth. Prior experience is never a requirement—curiosity, commitment, and openness to learning matter most"— FSFA Faculty
Not all FSFA students are required to earn academic credit or receive a transcript. Some may enroll for personal enrichment.
Regardless of credit status, all students must attend classes regularly and complete assigned coursework.
All coursework—completed or incomplete—is recorded on each student's transcript according to the following scale:
*Only offered for returning students.
FSFA uses a holistic approach to evaluation, emphasizing both technical skill and creative development.
Regular studio critiques and class participation encourage reflection and peer learning.
Mid-semester progress reports and one-on-one advising sessions support artistic growth.
Students may add courses during the first week of classes unless otherwise stated. After this period, written approval is required from both the instructor and the Director's Office.
Students may drop a class within the first week without a grade appearing on their transcript. Withdrawals after this time—up to one week after the semester break—are recorded as W (Withdrawal) or WF (Withdrew Failing).
Students who stop attending after this deadline will most likely not do well in the class.
At the end of each semester, FSFA issues official transcripts directly to the student's home institution.
